A friendly, versatile and experienced flutist based in north London, Maddy focuses on jazz, funk and blues across the whole family of flutes: concert, alto, bass and piccolo flute. Maddy holds a performance ATCL (distinction) and LTCL diploma in jazz flute from Trinity College. Maddy graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in November 2018 at BMus level with Merit, and has been lucky enough to study with world class flutists: Gareth Lockrane, Rowland Sutherland, Joaquin Oliveros and ‘Magic’ Malik Mezzandri. Maddy is continuing further study in the jazz department at Middlesex University.

Lessons are tailored creatively to the particular student, their background and interests, while developing their musicianship to a high level. Maddy runs a small school jazz band directing them at a 2020 performance in the Union Chapel and King’s Place in London as part of the Music for Youth Regional festival.
Maddy leads the Girl Plays Jazz Project – a new project in North London to provide jazz education to girls aged between 8 and 12 years old – to introduce them to jazz and develop their skills as improvising musicians. Please see http://www.girlplaysjazz.org.uk for more details. In July 2018 GPJP was approved as a community interest company by Companies House. And in March 2019 to celebrate our first birthday – we were delighted to play to a sold out show at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz club in collaboration with RSCF. In 2019 and 2020 we have performed at Karamel, the Vortex and at Poplar Union as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival.
